VELVET REVOLVER To Release 'Comrades' In April

December 17, 2003

VELVET REVOLVER, the much buzzed-about rock group featuring ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS vocalist Scott Weiland, former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum and guitarist Dave Kushner from Dave Navarro's (JANE'S ADDICTION) band, have set "Comrades" as the working title for their much-anticipated debut, tentatively due on April 27 through RCA Records.

The album, which was produced by Josh Abraham (LIMP BIZKIT, STAIND) and mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, WHITE ZOMBIE, LINKIN PARK, SLAYER, SEPULTURA),is scheduled to be mastered this Friday (Dec. 19) in New York City. The mastering session will be attended by the entire band minus Weiland, who is currently completing a six-month residential drug rehabilitation program in Pasadena, Ca.

Scott, who was recently placed on strict lockdown after attempting to bring drugs into the residential facility, is believed to have one more song left to record for the CD, which will include twelve of the more than fifty tracks the band co-wrote before and after Weiland joined the lineup last spring. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Slither", "Falling to Pieces", "Superhuman" and "Illegal Eye".
